We love making smoothies and are always experimenting with new recipes.  This is our ongoing list of our best smoothie recipes.

Overview

Smoothies can be divided into 3 major categories:

  • Healthy smoothies with a vegetable focus
  • Decadent smoothies with ingredients like chocolate and ice cream
  • Fruit smoothies

Our main focus currently is on the third category, fruit smoothies.  However, we are starting to experiment with smoothies in the other categories.

No matter what type of smoothie you are making, a good blender is essential.  When we invested in a Nutri Ninja our smoothie making really took off.  Our Nutri Ninja has all kinds of buttons and settings. This includes a dedicated smoothie button I have never used.  Instead we simply turn it on to medium and let it go for about a minute.  We have a high-end Nutri Ninja system but they have a complete line for all budgets.


For fruit smoothies we have a core formula that we use as a base for our recipes.  You can see more detail on those essentials here.

This list of best smoothie recipes will be updated regularly so check back frequently.  Also, we welcome any ideas.  All recipes have a basic description and link to a more detailed post.  In most cases, it is simply a matter of putting the ingredients in a blender and running it for about a minute until the desired consistency is achieved.

Mango Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 to 1 ½ cup mango
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Blueberry Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup blueberry juice
  • 1 to 1 ½ cup blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)

Mixed Berry Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup fruit juice
  • 1 to 1 ½ cup blueberries, strawberries, raspberries
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)

Cherry Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup cherry juice
  • 1 to 1 ½ cup blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
