Cole Cooks: Glazed Asian Green Beans
Green beans are a family favorite vegetable. I often like to add Asian flavors to green beans. These Glazed Asian Green beans take about 20 minutes to prepare.
One of our favorite cookbooks is Nina Simonds’ China Express. She has a basic recipe for glazed green beans. I have improvised on that recipe to make my own version of Asian Glazed Green Beans.
Simonds’ recipe is simple. It calls for soy sauce, sake and sugar. The green beans are briefly sauteed with some green onions. The sauce is added, the beans are brought to a boil and simmer for 12 minutes.
I use the same method but add sesame oil and siracha. The siracha adds some heat and can easily be left out.
Pork is my favorite meat to serve with green beans. In this case it was served alongside Sous Vide Pork Tenderloin for a simple weeknight meal.
