Cole Cooks: Texas Toast
Texas Toast is one of my favorite side dishes with barbecue. Many restaurants in San Diego serve it as a side dish. I wanted to learn how to make Texas Toast on my own.

It turns out Texas Toast is simple to make. It is just thick bread slices that are coated on both sides with butter and garlic. It cooks in the oven for about 10 minutes.
Our local store even sold Texas Toast bread. This was already sliced. I was going to buy a loaf of thick bread and slice it myself.
You brush the bread on both sides. And cook it in the oven. I did not flip the bread halfway through. One side comes out more toasted than the other. I like the bread this way. If you want both sides crunchy you can flip the bread.
I made this recipe for my Barbecued Chicken with Dr Pepper BBQ Sauce. This summer I am learning to cook a lot of meals on our grill and plan to make Texas Toast quite a bit.
