Crown Point is a peninsula that sticks out into the north center of Mission Bay. It is part of the Pacific Beach neighborhood with mostly residential housing.
The east side of Crown Point is a large park area with plenty of grassy space and pavilions for large group gatherings. The huge parking lot is a major plus.
Much of the beach area is for water skiing. This is part of the large water-skiing area on the east side of Mission Bay. The map here shows the water ski area.
There is a dedicated swim area at the north end of Crown Point. However, the actual beach area is fairly small. Most of Crown Point is grassy.
Because of the ample parking we generally use Crown Point as the starting spot for our Mission Bay Bike loop.
Overall Crown Point is an area used mainly by locals. There are no rental facilities, restaurants, or nearby resorts. We come here a lot but we bring our own gear.
See below for more pictures from Crown Point and the water ski area during summer 2020 and January 2021 (at very low tide).
