Dr Pepper BBQ Sauce

This is a tangy barbecue sauce that features Dr Pepper

- 2 large lemons
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 2 thin slices onion
- 3 cups Dr Pepper
- 1.5 cups ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoon hot sauce
- 2 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Cut lemons in half and remove a ΒΌ inch slice from each lemon. Place slices in a pan. Juice the remaining lemons in the saucepan.
Add remaining ingredients and stir. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and let simmer about 20 minutes until thick. Taste for seasoning and adjust.
Put sauce through strainer and store in jars. Refrigerate.
