San Diego’s Mission Bay is one of the city’s prime attractions. There are all kinds of water-based activities and 27-miles of shoreline. This is our guide to the Mission Bay South Shores area, including Dana Landing and Sunset Point.

The southern part of Mission Bay is dominated by SeaWorld amusement park. South Shores is the area to the east of SeaWorld. Dana Landing and Sunset Point are on the west side of Sea World.
All these areas are easily accessible from Sea World Dr (South Shores), W. Mission Bay Dr (Sunset Point, Dana Landing and Dana Resort) and Ingraham St (Dana Landing).
South Shores has one of the largest boat launching areas on Mission Bay. However, there is a tiny beach to the east of the boat ramp. Apparently, the name of this beach is South Shores Mini Beach.
South Shores is also home to the Silent Electric Flyers of San Diego. This is a dedicated area for model planes. The area has its own gated parking lot open to members only.

Dana Landing is directly across from Sea World. This area is a mini-version of the larger Quivira Basin. It is designed as a place to dock boats. There are several rental facilities here.

The Dana Resort occupies the space between Dana Landing and Sunset Point. Sunset Point has grassy picnic areas and great views of the bay. However, the rocky shore limits swimming.
