San Diego Beer: Gravity Heights
San Diego has more breweries than any one person can ever hope to cover. In looking at the San Diego beer scene, the focus at Fun Diego Family has been on places where we feel comfortable bringing the kids. Based on this criteria, the new Gravity Heights in Sorrento Mesa has soared to the top of the list.

Gravity Heights opened in early 2019 in a non-descript office park area near another family favorite, Green Flash. This is a partnership between restaurant owners Whisknladle Hospitality and Skip Virgilio. Virgilio is a brewmaster who co-founded AleSmith, arguably San Diego’s best brewery.
The focus at Gravity Heights is on beer and food. This is as much a restaurant as a brewery. We have tried quite a few menu items, but a standout is the wood-fired pizza. In its category, this pizza ranks as some of the best in San Diego.
Sorrento Valley is noted for its large office parks and Gravity Heights takes advantage of this space. There is a large indoor dining area, a covered garden area and an outdoor area with a bar and kids play area.
In terms of beer there are a lot of choices. We are not experts so we defer to Craft Beer in San Diego. He tried five of the thirteen house beers on his visit and liked them all. His favorite was Torrey Porter and Red Tide Ryesing.
As noted by Craft Beer in San Diego, Gravity Heights is new and still working on its beer. He noted they were not quite up to Green Flash, Karl Strauss or New English. However, these places are right down the road and would combine for a nice San Diego brewery tour.
Overall Gravity Heights stands out for the food and ambiance. My 13-year old son is generally not a fan of breweries. However, he loves Gravity Heights, especially for its pizza.
